I must pass this along

...and so far (roughly 13 billion years), no other life form has reached out to us in a way we could perceive. To continue with this fantastic thinking, it is possible that the sequence of events that occurred to make life as we know it happened uniquely on Earth. Given the infinitesimally small amount of universal time that our species has been roaming our planet, the even smaller amount of time that we have been sentient, the even smaller amount of time in one human lifetime, and the foci of my life as a parent and physician, I am not concerned at all about what other life forms may be out there. Though, I agree with Carl Sagan, and others, that some of us need to think about how we as a species might handle it if a connection occurs.

PS I am a physician as well. What does that have to do with anything? And why is alien intelligence obliged to reach out to us? If you'd like please read my essay - Where Is Everyone - and give me your thoughts.

Life is precious. Detection of sentient intelligence alien to us may help to deliver us out of our narcissistic stupor - resulting in creating a better world for your children. As it is now we live in self absorbed human construct and we are headed to an intercept with reality that will not end well. Climate crisis, pandemics, nuclear war, economic collapse - something must change. Alien intelligence and a worldview founded in the beauty of reality offers our greatest hope.
